My first tutorial DVD- DIGITAL CREATURE PAINTING W

Thu Sep 4, 2008, 6:12 PM
DIGITAL CREATURE PAINTING WITH CHET ZAR

In this tutorial DVD, I take you through my process of designing a creature in Photoshop® using my own unusual variety of professional and aesthetic techniques. I start with a blank document and no specific guidelines, developing my rough ideas into a fully realized character. Observe every step of the painting's evolution as I explain my thought process and workflow. Topics covered include: developing a rough sketch, value and color, liquify, painting hair using custom brushes, and adding detail using layer styles.

140 Minutes of Lecture.

I can't see the future, but I'm damn sure that success and greatness are two ingredients not in your destiny cake.

Chris Hansen is very adamant about wanting you to have a seat, preferably right over there.

I bought this and it was one of the best Gnomon dvd's I've seen. The workflow was very different from what I'm used to, so I was able to see a lot of new tricks to add to the repertoire. I'm glad you worked with Gnomon to make it.

Awesome, gotta get this sometime. I bought Shawn Barber's instructional video a couple months ago, pretty sweet, very informative.

Don't you think the price is a little high for the target market? This DVD will appeal and be most useful to art students (in school or otherwise), I doubt they have much money. I think it's safe to say the unit price to make each DVD wasn't $49. I think even if you shaved off a few dollars, you'd come out ahead in the end and gain more exposure because more people would be able to afford the DVD. Did the publisher set the price or did you?

Thanks very much for the information Chet. Anything that helps me learn is great, but seeing how you weave your ways is worth the money. =)

I can say, as I own this DVD, I learned so much from watching it and I picked up some new things about photoshop. I fully endorse this!

I've bought a few Gnomon DVD's, and before it reaches my danish doorstep, it costs me $100. It's absolutely worth it - but definitely means, that I can only buy very few of them.

Gonna get this one though.

I did this DVD for the Gnomon Workshop and I think they are all priced this way. Unfortunately, I have no say as far as pricing goes.

I honestly think it's worth the money since I am giving away a lot of techniques and trade secrets that I came up with. I am kind of creating competition for myself in that way!

And, you an use it as a write off!
